Finally!

So, My shipment of Merino fibre FINALLY arrived! It took my supplier nearly 2 months to get it to me, but it is here, and I can start dying for pinknits as soon as all this rain stops. There have been so many delays on this exciting venture and I feel really bad about having to keep pushing back when Cilla will get the Yarn I have promised her. Now I can finally get the whole lot sorted. :) And there is good news for my customers too! I have enough here to add some stock to the online shop as well, so i will soon be stocking hand dyed roving in the shop again! It has been a while, But I am hoping to add a fairly decent range of OOAK rovings in both 22 and 18 micron. So keep an eye out for fibre updates in the shop in the coming month.

Health Problems

So I have been having problems with my health of late, and recently spent 3 days in hospital receiving treatment for this ongoing illness. It was a pretty scary ordeal, being admitted at 2 am because of severe pain and spending the first 24 hours on morphine - and the pain still not going away. Needless to say this is really going to affect my ability to restock for the new year. I have plans to do a major restock of sock weight and DK hand dyed yarns in the new year, but It may need to be delayed while I am laid up.

I have been put on a crash diet by my surgeon because he wants me to have surgery to hopefully correct the source of my problem, and for that I will need to lose weight first. I will keep people posted about how it is going, and will also keep people up to date about how things are going with the conceived future update. I expect that when it happens, it will be spectacular.

I aim to be producing a range of sock yarns that are repeatable - so in essence, if you come and buy one skein, you should be able to come back another time and get something pretty similar. I am hoping to move towards a more consistent approach to dying, although I will still be doing the OOAK skeins, as they are what I love the most.

Well good luck and a happy Christmas to all!

something exciting!

So, the last few months have been busy busy busy! I have been adding hand spun to the shop all regular like and now I have an opportunity to help out a local business! My LYS pinknits is a fantastic wee place and I am now working on spinning up a range for her to sell exclusively!

I am giving her 50% of the profits from each skein sold to help support my beautiful LYS. I am uber psyched about this! it also means that hand spun additions to the etsy shop will cease temporarily, except for custom orders.

Well, wish us luck! Pics when the new yarns are done!

Busy Busy Busy!

So, I am Flat out getting the shop all stockerinoed!

There is a new series of Yarns up now, and there will be more in the near future. - Tweedle Dum & Tweedle Dee Worsted! So far, the plan is for 2 skeins dyed in the same dye lot. If people express and interest, I may kick it up to 4 skeins.

Each Skein is about 150 metres, so enough to do small projects like hats, bags, kids clothes and the like. If there is an expression of interest, I will start dying up sweater quantities of worsted, and remember you can always ask for a custom job too, if you want more.

I have also listed some hand made stitch markers. Right now the range is not huge, and only glass, but I have ordered some beautiful gemstone beads, so there will be semiprecious stitch markers in store soon as well as more lovely glass ones!

Also, There is new hand spun up in the store, so don't forget to check those out, and keep your eyes peeled for some VERY special Hand spun coming in the near future. ;)

Flibberty Gibbets!

So I have been working on some new yarns, which are all one of a kind. I am aiming for a uniqueness, so that each person who buys a flibbery gibbet feels special that y=they have something no-one else has. These limited edition yarns are all given individual and unusual names to make them memorable and individual!

The first three are up in the store HERE, and are available for purchase. for an extra dollar you can ad a hand made soap to your order too!

Let me introduce the first three Flibberty Gibbets to you now!

This is Deck Chair. Deck Chair is into electro, and always chooses organic alternatives.

This is Mosquito Coil. She loves the smell of citrus on the air in summer and sunbaking on tropical beaches.

This is Fridge Magnet. She is a winter girl through and through, and enjoys wrapping up in scarves and walking through the snow bare footed.

Soaps!

I am currently offering beautiful hand made soaps for only $1 with any wool purchase! These soaps are gorgeous! They are hand made in Camden Haven by Haven Soaps. They are Goats milk and coconut oil with some beautiful essential oils! The scents are amazing and must be smelled to be believed! My favourites are the Cinnamon, Clove and Orange and the Grapefruit and Burgamot. I am hoping to have a regular supply of these gorgeous hand made soaps, so they will always be available! Visit the shop HERE to check them out!

..and the mome raths outgrabe!

So, I am beginning a new line of sock yarns, inspired by Alice in wonderland. I remember as a child watching the Disney rendering of the story and being enthralled by all the colours, yet in the depths of the Tulgy wood it was dark and scary. The Mome Raths were these sweet little fuzzy creatures of all different colours who helped Alice to find the path. These wools are inspired by Walt Disney's Mome Raths.

This is the first Mome Rath sock. there will be more soon.

The Rainbow Cheetah!

So as mentioned, mEdiCATeD mERiNO is the only stockist of The Rainbow Cheetah yarns.

A little bit of back story on where these yarns come from. My daughter Jordis has been watching me and helping me dye yarn and roving for close to 2 years. She has always loved doing it, but recently, as I have been expanding my range (more on that soon) she expressed to me that she wanted to have a shop.

Needles to say I was surprised. I didn't feel that I could sell her work as my own, but I also felt that she is too young to have her own shop (she is not yet 6!), so we agreed that she should sell her work under her own brand, but it would be sold through my store until she is old enough to run her own store; and so The Rainbow Cheetah was born!

At the moment The Rainbow Cheetah is restricted in range, but as mEdiCATeD mERiNO expands, so to is The Rainbow Cheetah likely to! Jordis is very excited about having her own brand, and looking forward to her first sale!
